ANN ARBOR, MI (The Spread) – No. 23 Michigan looks to stay alive in the Big Ten title race on Saturday when it hosts Iowa at Noon ET on ESPN.

Michigan is 7-3 on the season, 5-1 in the Big Ten and 5-0 at home. Iowa is 4-6 overall, 2-4 in the Big Ten and 2-2 on the road. The Hawkeyes are just 3-7 against the spread this year while the Wolverines are 4-6 ATS. Iowa has won three straight over Michigan.

Trends show that Iowa is 8-3 against the spread in its last 11 meetings with Michigan and 4-1 ATS in its last 5 trips to Ann Arbor. The underdog has also covered the spread in 9 of the last 11 games in this series.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Michigan is the favorite to win this game, as the Wolverines have odds of -16.5 points against Iowa. Michigan is coming off a 38-31 overtime win over Northwestern at home. It was a bit of a miracle comeback for the Wolverines, who completed a near Hail Mary to setup the game-tying field goal with 8 seconds left in regulation. Michigan is scoring 29.7 points per game this season while the defense is holding opponents to 18.2 points per game. Michigan has been without starting quarterback Denard Robinson the last two games and he is questionable for this game with an elbow injury. Devin Gardner has filled in at quarterback and thrown for 520 yards and four touchdowns over the last two weeks.

Iowa is coming off a 27-24 loss to Purdue at home last week. The Hawkeyes have now lost four straight games. Iowa has a tough defense, which is allowing just 22 points per game, but the offense is being held to only 20.8 points per contest. Making matters worse, Iowa’s leading rusher, Mark Weisman, is questionable for this game with a hip injury. Weisman has rushed for 661 yards and eight touchdowns on the year. Quarterback James Vandenberg, who has thrown for 1,976 yards and five touchdowns, is leading the offense.

In terms of Injuries, Michigan receiver Ricardo Miller is questionable for the game due to personal reasons. Iowa fullback Brad Rogers is questionable due to an undisclosed injury.
