Boise takes first loss
Boise State is coming off its first loss of the season, two weeks ago at BYU, 28-25. That drops the Broncos to 6-1 on the season, 3-0 in the Mountain West, 4-2-1 against the spread and 4-3 with the over.
The Broncos have good numbers on offense and defense this year, as the offense is putting up 35.3 points and 469.7 yards per game, while the defense is allowing 20.7 points and 331.1 yards per contest. Hank Bachmeier has thrown for 1,547 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the offense, but he missed the last game with a hip injury. If he is unable to play, Chase Cord will get the start. Cord has thrown for 480 yards and eight touchdowns this year. John Hightower has caught 26 passes for 455 yards and five touchdowns while George Holani has rushed for 463 yards and a score. The defense is led by Curtis Weaver, who has 31 tackles with 9.5 sacks.
Spartans treading water
The San Jose State football team has struggled to get on any kind of major win streak. They haven’t won back to back games this year, but are still 4-4 after a 34-29 win at Army last week. The Spartans are 1-3 in the Mountain West, 4-3-1 against the spread and 5-3 with the under.
San Jose State doesn’t have much going on offense or defense this year. The defense is giving up 29.4 points and 444.1 yards per game. The offense is averaging 28.4 points and 396.9 yards per contest. Josh Love has thrown for 2,355 yards and 15 touchdowns to lead the offense this year. Tre Walker is the leading receiver with 40 catches for 565 yards and a touchdown while DeJon Parker is the leading rusher with 256 yards and five touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Boise State
The Broncos have hit the under in five straight in November and in six of their last seven conference games.
San Jose State
The Spartans have hit the under in five straight home games and in five of their last six games in November.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in their last two meetings but the under seems like it could be the play on Saturday. The Broncos struggled on the road offensively without their QB and its unclear if Bachmeier will be able to go as of now. If he can’t go, I think Boise will not be the same powerful offense it has been most of the year. The Boise defense is likely to continue to play well against a mediocre San Jose State offense, but I just can’t expect the Broncos to carry the load to hit the over.
College Football Week 10 Prediction: Boise State/San Jose State Under 59.5
