Will the defenses dominate on Saturday night when South Carolina hosts Tennessee at 7:15PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Gamecocks are 13.5-point home underdogs versus the Volunteers after opening as a 13-point dog earlier this week. As for the total, the number hit the board at 50.5 and that’s where it currently sits.

After rattling off five straight wins to start the season the Vols have taken a step back in their last two games. They fell 45-38 in overtime to Texas A&M in Week 6 and lost 49-10 to Alabama before their bye week. Tennessee has been an inconsistent team to bet on this season, going 3-4 against the spread in 2016. The over, however, has hit in four straight Tennessee games and is 5-2 overall.
The Gamecocks finally snapped a three-game losing streak with a 34-28 win over UMass last Saturday. They didn’t come close to covering as a 20-point home favorite, but wins have been hard to come back this year for South Carolina so the team will take victories when they come. The Gamecocks are now 3-4 on the year and have failed to cover in four of their seven games this season. The under has also cashed in five of their seven games.

OUR PICK: Tennessee should be well-rested and re-energized following their bye week but that doesn’t mean all of the team’s issues on offense will be ironed out by Saturday night. Despite possessing a backfield that most teams would kill for, the Vols rank 80th in total yards per game (393.6), 77th in passing yards per game (224.0), 71st in rushing yards (169.6), and 58th in points scored (30.4). The Gamecocks have had major issues stopping the run this season (211.1 RPG, 102nd), but have held opponents in check (21.3 PPG, 28th). The under is 6-1 in South Carolina’s last seven conference games and is 9-4-1 in the team’s last 14 home games.
