Navy vs. South Florida Prediction
Will No. 22 Navy be able to go on the road and stay unbeaten in the AAC when it takes on South Florida tonight at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, South Florida is favored at home in this game, as the Bulls are getting odds of -6.5 points against Navy. The over/under total for the contest is currently listed at 63.5 points. These two met last season with Navy getting a 29-17 win at home as a 6-point favorite.
Navy comes into this game 5-1 overall record and 4-0 AAC record. The Midshipmen 4-1-1 against the spread as well. Navy is putting up 33.8 points and 293.2 rushing yards per game on the year. Five different players have over 100 rushing yards on the season with QB Will Worth leading the way. He has run for 489 yards and nine touchdowns while throwing for 688 yards and five touchdowns. Usually the Navy defense is pretty stout, but the Midshipmen are struggling somewhat this year, allowing 25 points and 404 yards per game. They have given up at least 28 points in their last three games.
South Florida is coming off a surprising 46-30 loss at Temple to fall to 6-2 on the season and 3-1 in the AAC. The Bulls are 5-3 against the spread this season, but have failed to cover in their last two games. The USF offense has been the strength of the team this year, averaging 42.4 points and 487.1 yards per game. The Bulls are putting up 255.5 rushing yards per contest and have one of the top players in the country leading the offense. Quinton Flowers has thrown for 1,722 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for 745 yards and eight scores. The team also has Marlon Mack in the backfield. He has run for 659 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2016. While the offense is great, the defense isn’t. USF is giving up 28.4 points and 447.6 yards per game this season, including 206.3 yards per game on the ground. In last week’s loss to Temple, the Bulls allowed 319 rushing yards.

Navy isn’t being given much credit heading into tonight’s game, but the Midshipmen are a team that tends to play up in competition when facing a good opponent. While USF has a dynamic offense, they haven’t been great at stopping teams. They allowed 55 points to Florida State and 46 points to Temple. USF is definitely capable of winning, but I expect Navy to stay close.
