Wisconsin stunned by Illinois
Wisconsin was clearly caught looking ahead to this week’s game on Saturday, as the Badgers were stunned at Illinois, suffering a 24-23 loss on the road. Wisconsin is now 6-1 on the season, 3-1 in the Big Ten, 5-2 against the spread and 5-2 with the under.
The Badgers lead the nation in almost every defensive category this year, as they are giving up just 7.6 points and 196.3 yards per game. Chris Orr is leading the defense with 38 tackles and eight sacks. Offensively, Wisconsin is putting up 39.7 points and 444.1 yards per contest. Jonathan Taylor is leading the Wisconsin offense with 957 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns while Jack Coan has thrown for 1,383 yards and nine scores.
Ohio State continuing to dominate
The Ohio State football team continued its dominant run in 2019 last Friday with a 52-3 win at Northwestern. The Buckeyes are now 7-0 on the season, 4-0 in the Big Ten, 6-1 against the spread and 3-3-1 with the over/under total.
Like Wisconsin, Ohio State has been one of the best in the nation defensively. The Buckeyes are giving up just 8.0 points and 229.6 yards per game this year. The unit is being led by Chase Young, who has 23 tackles with 9.5 sacks. On offense, Ohio State is also one of the best in the nation. The Buckeyes are averaging 49.7 points and 527.1 yards per contest. J.K. Dobbins has rushed for 947 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the offense while Justin Fields has thrown for 1,492 yards and 22 touchdowns while also rushing for 291 yards and eight scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Wisconsin
The Badgers have hit the under in four of their last five games overall and in four of their last five road games.
Ohio State
The Buckeyes have hit the over in six of their last eight games in October and in seven of their last eight Week 9 games.
Prediction:
Ohio State has won nine of the last 10 against Wisconsin and the two have split the over/under total in those 10 meetings. While the Badgers have been great on defense, they haven’t faced much in terms of offensive talent. Going to Columbus and stopping this ground attack will be very difficult. Ohio State hasn’t had a problem scoring on traditionally strong defensive teams like Northwestern and Michigan State in recent weeks and I think they will score on Wisconsin as well. The question is, can the Badgers score on the Buckeyes? Ohio State’s defense looks as good as ever, but stopping Taylor won’t be an easy task either. I think the Badgers are able to put up more points than any Big Ten team has on OSU this year.
College Football Week 9 Prediction: Wisconsin/Ohio State Over 50
