Michigan State vs. Maryland Pick
Will the struggles continue for Michigan State when they hit the road to face Maryland on Saturday at 7:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Michigan State is the slight favorite on the road, as the Spartans are getting odds of -3 points against the Terrapins. The over/under total for the game is listed at 52 points. Michigan State has won both Big Ten meetings with Maryland and the two have hit the under in both matchups.
Bet on Michigan State vs. Maryland
Michigan State is in a complete spiral right now. The Spartans have lost four straight to fall to 2-4 on the season and 0-3 in the Big Ten. MSU is 4-2 with the under this season, which is pretty surprising considering they are giving up 30 points per game. The Spartans have given up at least 28 points in four of their last five outings. They are a far cry from the defense they have been in previous years. The offense is struggling somewhat as well, averaging just 24.2 points and 384.3 yards per game. They have been jumping around at QB the last few games but Tyler O’Connor finished last week’s game. He has 1,257 yards and 11 touchdowns this year, but also has six interceptions. The MSU run game started the year strong, but has just 817 yards on the season. Running the ball has always been a strength of Mark Dantonio teams.
Maryland is coming off a 31-10 loss at home to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Terps are 4-2 on the season, 1-2 in the Big Ten and 5-1 with the under. It hasn’t been visible the past few weeks, giving up 69 points in their last two games, but Maryland has been a decent defense this year. The Terps are giving up just an average of 21.2 points and 356 yards per game. However, they have struggled to stop the run, allowing 179.5 yards per game on the ground. When it comes to offense, Maryland is putting up 32.8 points and 404.3 yards per contest. Lorenzo Harrison and Ty Johnson have combined to lead the run game, as they have 764 yards with seven touchdowns. Perry Hills missed last game with a shoulder injury and is questionable to return this week. He has thrown for 622 yards and six touchdowns this season.

MSU is a mess right now. The offense hasn’t been able to consistently score under O’Connor. Maryland isn’t much different, as they can’t score without a consistent run game. Both defenses have looked poor when facing tougher competition, but I don’t know that either offense should be able to run over each defense. Look for the under to hit in what will likely be an ugly football game.
