Ohio State stays unbeaten
Ohio State is off to a 7-0 start to the season following a 30-14 win over Minnesota at home last week. The Buckeyes are 4-0 in the Big Ten, 3-4 against the spread and 4-3 with the under. They have hit the under in three of their last four games.
The Buckeyes are rolling on both sides of the ball. They are averaging 46.3 points and 556.9 yards per game on offense, including 370 passing yards per game. Dwayne Haskins has thrown for 2,331 yards and 28 touchdowns with just four interceptions. Parris Campbell has caught 43 passes for 557 yards and seven touchdowns while J.K. Dobbins is the leading rusher with 497 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Ohio State is allowing just 19.1 points and 369.6 yards per game.
Purdue on a win streak
Purdue is coming off a 46-7 win at Illinois for its third straight victory. The Boilermakers have won three straight to get to 3-3 on the year. They are also 2-1 in the Big Ten, 4-2 against the spread and 3-3 with the over/under total.
The Boilermakers are putting up a lot on offense this year, averaging 33.5 points and 510.2 yards per game. David Blough has thrown for 1,695 yards and 10 touchdowns with just two interceptions. Rondale Moore has caught 45 passes for 558 yards and five touchdowns while D.J. Knox has rushed for 540 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Purdue is giving up 23.2 points and 414.3 yards per game.
College Football Betting Trends
Ohio State
Ohio State has hit the under in four of its last five conference games and in four straight games on grass.
Purdue
Purdue has hit the under in seven of its last 10 conference games, but has hit the over in 16 of its last 23 at home.
Prediction:
This is a high total for any two teams. They have hit the under in four of their last six meetings and they have failed to get to a combined 60 points in their last 10 meetings. Ohio State hasn’t gotten to that high of a total since Week 1 and Purdue has only hit it twice this year. While the Buckeyes can move the ball, their defense isn’t one to get gashed often and I don’t think Purdue is as good as their numbers may indicate. I just think the total is being set too high for this game.
College Football Prediction: Ohio State/Purdue Under 68.5
