Clemson Tigers Game Notes
According to Pro Football Focus, the Clemson Tigers have not allowed a single touchdown on 34 deep pass attempts this season. Scoring on the Clemson defense is not entirely out of the question, but you won’t get them on deep shots down the field. Well, at least nobody has done it yet. Considering the Tigers have played four games already, three of which were against ACC opponents (including a ranked Miami squad), not having allowed a deep pass touchdown yet is quite the achievement. The defense also has three interceptions on deep passes. Cornerbacks Derion Kendrick and Sheridan Jones have been fantastic in leading the effort for the unit. Clemson’s next three games are against Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and Boston College, so we’ll see if they can keep the streak up.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Game Notes
Georgia Tech redshirt junior RB Jordan Mason (undisclosed) is not listed on the team’s depth chart ahead of Saturday’s game against Clemson. Mason (6’1/215) will miss his fourth straight game with an injury sustained in Georgia Tech’s opening game upset victory over Florida State. HC Geoff Collins hopes to have Mason back sometime this season, but at this point it’s anyone’s guess as to when that return will occur. In the meantime GT is undergoing a youth movement in the backfield, as true freshmen QB Jeff Sims and RB Jahmyr Gibbs orchestrated a thrilling upset of Louisiville last Friday. Mason may not have a starting job when he finally does return.
