Tennessee grabs a win
The Volunteers are coming off a 20-10 victory at home over Mississippi State last weekend to end a two-game skid. Tennessee is now 2-4 on the season, 1-2 in the SEC, 2-4 against the spread and 3-3 with the over/under total.
Tennessee has struggled offensively this season, putting up just 23 points and 353.5 yards per game. Defensively, the Vols are giving up 25.7 points and 358.7 yards per contest. Tennessee went with freshman Brian Maurer for a few games at QB, but he suffered a concussion last week and is questionable to play on Saturday. Jarrett Guarantano will go if Maurer can’t. He has thrown for 856 yards and eight touchdowns. Jauan Jennings is the leading receiver with 29 catches for 412 yards and five touchdowns while Ty Chandler is the leading rusher with 383 yards and two scores.
Bama wins again
Alabama continued its unbeaten season last weekend when it went on the road and picked up a 47-28 win at Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide are now 6-0 on the season, 3-0 in the SEC, 3-3 against the spread and 4-2 with the over.
The Tide have been dominant on offense this season, averaging 51 points and 537.2 yards per game. Defensively, Alabama is giving up just 17 points and 336.2 yards per contest. Tua Tagovailoa is in the Heisman race again, as he has thrown for 2,011 yards and 27 touchdowns with just one interception. DeVonta Smith is the leading receiver with 38 catches for 636 yards and nine touchdowns while Najee Harris has rushed for 451 yards and a score. Smith will have to sit out the first half of this game due to being ejected last week against A&M. Anfernee Jennings is leading the defense with 37 tackles and four sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Tennessee
The Volunteers are 4-1 with the under in their last five road games and 5-2 with the under in their last seven conference games.
Alabama
The Crimson Tide are 4-0-1 with the over in their last five conference games and 4-0 with the over in their last four against a team with a losing record.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in three straight meetings, as Alabama has been able to put up big numbers on the Vols. The Tide should do more of the same on Saturday. Bama has been able to score at least 49 points in each game at home this season. Tennessee’s defense isn’t going to be enough to stop them. The Vols have given up 43 to Georgia and 34 to Florida. In that same breath, Bama’s defense hasn’t been as dominant as previous years. They have given up at least 23 points in each SEC game this season. I think the Vols will find a couple of touchdowns in this one to help hit the over.
