Boise State still perfect
Boise State is off to a 6-0 start to the season following a 59-37 win over Hawaii last weekend at home. The Broncos are 4-1-1 against the spread this season while going 3-3 with the over/under total.
The Broncos have been solid on both sides of the ball this year. They are averaging 37 points and 488.2 yards per game on offense while giving up just 19.5 points and 327.7 yards per contest. Freshman Hank Bachmeier has thrown for 1,547 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the offense, but he suffered a hip injury in last week’s game that has him questionable to play on Saturday. Chase Cord will play if he can’t. Cord has 295 passing yards and six touchdowns this year. John Hightower is the leading receiver with 24 catches for 444 yards and five touchdowns while Robert Mahone has 375 rushing yards and five scores. The defense has been led by Curtis Weaver, who has 26 tackles and nine sacks.
BYU on a skid
The BYU Cougars are riding a three-game losing streak right now following a 27-23 loss at South Florida last weekend. BYU is 2-4 on the year, 2-4 against the spread and 3-2-1 with the under.
BYU is on the bottom half of the country on both offense and defense this year. The Cougars are averaging 22.3 points and 386.5 yards per game on offense, while the defense is allowing 30.5 points and 413 yards per contest. The Cougars are beat up at QB, as Zach Wilson is out until December with a thumb injury while Jaren Hall is dealing with a concussion. Hall is listed as probable to play on Saturday. He has thrown for 206 yards and a touchdown. The Cougars have also lost leading rusher Ty’Son Williams for the season due to a knee injury. He had 264 yards and three touchdowns. Aleva Hifo is the leading receiver with 23 catches for 303 yards and two scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Boise State
The Broncos have hit the under in eight of their last 10 games following a win and in nine of their last 13 games in October.
BYU
The Cougars are 18-7-1 with the under int heir last 26 games on grass and 27-12-1 with the under in their last 40 games overall.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in three straight meetings. The Boise State defense is pretty legit and should be able to play well on the road against a short-handed BYU offense. The Cougars aren’t god awful on defense, so I think they can challenge this Boise offense. The Broncos have had their struggles on offense at times and may not have their starting quarterback available.
College Football Week 8 Prediction: Boise State/BYU Under 47
