GAINESVILLE, FL (The Spread) – The big game of the week on Saturday sees No. 3 Florida hosting No. 9 South Carolina at 3:30PM ET on CBS in a SEC clash.

Florida is 6-0 overall, 5-0 in the SEC and 3-0 at home. South Carolina is 6-1 overall, 4-1 in the SEC and 2-1 on the road. The Gators are 5-1 against the spread this year while the Gamecocks are 6-1 ATS. South Carolina has won two straight in this series and covered in its last three against Florida.

Trends show that the home team is 7-3 against the spread in the last 10 games of this series. South Carolina is 16-5 against the spread in its last 21 games on grass while Florida is jut 2-5-1 ATS in its last 8 home games.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv Florida is a slight favorite at home in this game, as the Gators are getting odds of -3 points against South Carolina. The over/under total for this contest has been set at 42 points. (View Matchup) The opening odds for this game also had Florida as a 3-point favorite. The spread hasn’t changed since it opened.

Florida is coming off a 31-17 win at Vanderbilt last week. The Gators have already beaten three teams that were ranked or are currently ranked this year. The Florida defense has been the story, as it is giving up just 12.3 points per game. That ranks sixth in the nation. On offense, Florida hasn’t been real strong, scoring only 27.8 points per game. The Gators are led by a strong rushing attack, as Mike Gillislee has rushed for 615 yards and seven touchdowns this year to lead the team.

South Carolina is coming off its first loss of the year, 23-21 at LSU. The gamecocks led two different times during the game, but struggled to stop LSU, as the Tigers put up 406 total yards and 258 rushing yards against South Carolina. Conversely, the Gamecocks had just 211 total yards of offense in the loss, including just 34 rushing yards. On the season, South Carolina is giving up just 12.3 points per game while scoring 34.1 points per contest on offense. The Gamecocks are led by running back Marcus Lattimore, who has rushed for 584 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.

In terms of Injuries, South Carolina defensive tackles Kelcy Quarles (shoulder) and J.T. Surratt (ankle) are both questionable for Saturday’s game. Florida tackle Matt Patchan is out for the game with a pectoral injury.
