Minnesota at Penn State
A national title may be out of the picture for No. 14 Penn State, but the Big Ten title is still within reach.
In order to keep those hopes alive the Nittany Lions must beat a feisty Minnesota team on Saturday at 3:30PM ET from Beaver Stadium.

Many thought the Nittany Lions had a cake walk to the BCS Championship game, but a 21-10 loss at home to Iowa spoiled those plans. Penn State has rebounded with sizeable wins over Illinois and Eastern Illinois to improve to 5-1, but the Lions are just 2-4 against the spread this year, with both covers coming after the Iowa loss. The last two games have seen Penn State score season-high point totals, as the offense seems to be reaching its potential. Daryll Clark has thrown for 1,367 yards and 12 touchdowns on the year while Evan Royster has rushed for 504 yards and four scores. Derek Moye has caught 21 passes for 352 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, Penn State has allowed the fewest points in the conference at 10.2 per-game and are leading the conference in rushing defense, allowing just 491 yards in six games.
The Golden Gophers are 4-2 on the year and 3-3 against the spread. Both of Minnesota’s losses have come at home. The two losses this season come from California and Wisconsin, while the Gophers hold two conference wins over Northwestern and Purdue by more than 10 points. Adam Weber has thrown for 1,224 yards and six touchdowns in 2009, but has eight interceptions. Eric Decker has been the offensive catalyst for Minnesota with 46 receptions for 689 yards and five touchdowns. The 689 yards ranks third in the country. On defense, Minnesota is allowing 23.8 points and 381.2 yards per-game, including 1,311 yards through the air.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Penn State 16.5-point home favorites over Minnesota on Saturday afternoon. The over/under total for this game has been established at 50.
