Vols stun Georgia

Tennessee was a 1-5-point favorite at home against Georgia on Saturday according to online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. The Bulldogs had 83 percent of the public bets but the Volunteers put a sound 45-19 beating on Georgia to give Lane Kiffin his first SEC victory as a head coach. Tennessee out-gained Georgia 472-241 in the game and had 310 rushing yards to get the sizeable victory.

Gators win with Tebow

LSU was getting 7.5 points at home when it hosted No. 1 Florida on Saturday. 61 percent of public bets went with the Tigers to cover, but Tim Tebow did just enough to lead the Gators to a 13-3 victory over the LSU. It was Florida’s defense that really led the way to the victory, as it held LSU to just 162 yards of offense, including just 96 yards passing. Tebow finished with 134 yards and a touchdown passing.

Buckeyes wins and cover

Ohio State was giving up 16 points at home to Wisconsin on Saturday. 76 percent of public bets went with the Badgers +16 on the road, but Ohio State narrowly covered, winning 31-13. The Badgers had chances to score, but two key interceptions by quarterback Scott Tolzien ended those scoring chances and allowed Ohio State to cover the spread.

Auburn falls in top 25 debut

Auburn had just cracked into the top 25 last week and was giving up 2 points on the road at Arkansas. 68 percent of public bets liked the Tigers to win by more than two, but Auburn was not up to the challenge, as Arkansas racked up 495 yards of offense to beat the Tigers 44-23. Ryan Mallett threw for 274 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for a touchdown as well to lead the Razorbacks.
