Miami rallies against FSU
Miami overcame a 27-7 deficit against Florida State last week to pick up a 28-27 win. The Hurricanes are now 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in the ACC. The Canes are 3-3 against the spread and 5-1 with the over.
The Miami defense has been the strength of the team this year. The Canes are allowing just 18.5 points and 237.3 yards per game. Offensively, Miami is averaging 41.5 points and 409.5 yards per game. The team has went to N’Kosi Perry at quarterback and he has thrown or 646 yards with 11 touchdowns this season. Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas have combined for 803 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Virginia coming off bye
Virginia is coming off a bye week a week after losing 35-21 at NC State. The Cavaliers are now 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the ACC. They are 4-1 against the spread while hitting the over in three of their five games.
UVA has been pretty respectable on defense this season, allowing just 20.4 points and 324.6 yards per game. Their pass defense is giving up just 198.4 yards per game. On offense, Virginia is putting up 30.2 points and 418 yards per game. Jordan Ellis and Bryce Perkins have combined for 819 rushing yards and nine touchdowns to lead the offense. Perkins has also thrown for 1,125 yards and 11 touchdowns with four interceptions.
College Football Betting Trends
Miami
The Hurricanes are 1-4 against the spread in their last five conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games.
Virginia
Virginia is 9-2 against the spread in its last 11 following a bye and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 against a winning team.
Prediction:
Even though you could say that Miami had a letdown against Florida State, the Canes still rallied and picked up an emotional win over their rival. This week they have to hit the road to face a Virginia team that will be fresh. Virginia has already covered in four of its last five against Miami and I expect it again this weekend. Miami’s offense can struggle at times and I think Virginia’s defense will pose a challenge. Look for this game to come down to the wire and for the Cavs to cover.
College Football Prediction: Virginia +6.5
