Boston College vs. Florida State Odds

TALLAHASSEE, FL (The Spread) – No. 12 Florida State looks to rebound from its first loss on Saturday when the Seminoles host Boston College at 5:30PM ET on ESPN2.

Florida State is 5-1 this year, 2-1 in the ACC and 4-0 at home. Boston College is 1-4 overall, 0-2 in conference play and 0-2 on the road. Both teams enter the game at 1-4 against the spread. Florida State has won its last two meetings with the Eagles, but Boston College has covered the spread in three of the last four games in this series.

Trends show that the Eagles are 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games on grass. Florida State is just 1-4 ATS in its last 5 conference games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv Florida State is the heavy favorite at home, as the Seminoles are getting odds of -27.5 points against Boston College. The spread hasn’t changed much, just dropping down to 27.5 points mid-week and holding from there.

Florida State started 5-0, but was beaten 17-16 by N.C. State last week. The Seminoles posted just 343 total yards of offense in the loss and were only 3 of 15 on third downs. Defensively, FSU only gave up 325 total yards, but they did give up 259 yards through the air to the Wolfpack. Running back Chris Thompson rushed for 141 yards on 25 carries to lead Florida State. He suffered an ankle injury in the game but is expected to play this week.

Boston College has struggled this year, getting off to a 1-4 start. The Eagles have had three of their four losses come by 9 points or less. For the year, Boston College is allowing 29 points per game while scoring 28.2 points per contest. The Eagles have a strong passing attack, led by quarterback Chase Rettig, who has thrown for 1,526 yards and 10 TDs this season.

In terms of Injuries, Florida State offensive lineman Trey Pettis is questionable with a head injury. Boston College defensive tackle Kaleb Ramsey is questionable with a leg injury while linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis is doubtful with a leg injury.
