Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Gators are 7-point favorites to beat the Commodores. The total, meanwhile, sits at 50.5 points. As of this writing, 69% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Gators.
Florida Gators
Florida redshirt sophomore QB Feleipe’ Franks completed just 12-of-27 passes for 161 yards with a touchdown and interception in a 27-19 victory over LSU on Saturday. He also added 42 yards on the ground on six carries. Franks should be thanking the Florida defense and run game, because if we’re being honest, he didn’t have much to do with the Gators pulling off the upset victory. He was also facing one of the toughest secondaries he’ll face all year, but he struggled to get the football into spots. His touchdown was a three-yard pass to Moral Stephens with 1:09 left in the first half. Franks and the Gators take on Vanderbilt next Saturday.
Vanderbilt Commodores
Vanderbilt senior QB Kyle Shurmur completed just 14-of-28 passes for 169 yards in a 41-13 loss on Saturday to Georgia. Shurmur needed to be at his very best to have any shot of upsetting Georgia. Nope. The senior signal-caller has struggled with accuracy for most of the season, and while he didn’t throw an interception in this one, he was off the mark far too much for Vanderbilt to sustain anything offensively. Shurmur and the Commodores have another brutal game against the strong Florida defense next Saturday.
Betting Trends
Florida
The over is 4-1 in the Gators’ last five games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous contest.
Vanderbilt
The under is 4-1 in the Commodores’ last five home games but the over is 9-3 in the Commodores’ last 12 conference games.
Prediction
The over has cashed in 10 of the last 13 meetings between these two teams and is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Vanderbilt but unless the Commodores get more out of Shurmur I don’t see how this game cashing the over for bettors on Saturday. Florida’s defense is allowing just 14.8 points per game and has held much better offenses than Vandy in check already this season.
College Football Prediction: Florida/Vanderbilt under 50.5
