Memphis unbeaten in 2019
The Memphis Tigers are off to a 5-0 start overall following a 52-33 win over UL Monroe last weekend. The Tigers are 1-0 in the AAC, 4-1 against the spread and 3-2 with the over this year.
Memphis is pretty sound on both sides of the ball this year. The defense is giving up just 19.2 points and 325.4 yards per game. Their passing defense is third in the nation, allowing just 146.2 yards per game through the air. Offensively, Memphis is putting up 39.8 points and 461 yards per game. Kenneth Gainwell is leading the offense with 620 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Brady White has thrown for 1,163 yards and 11 touchdowns while Damonte Coxie has 21 receptions for 301 yards and two scores.
Temple bounces back
Temple suffered a 38-22 loss at Buffalo three weeks ago, but the Owls have won two straight since. That includes a 27-17 win at ECU this past weekend. Temple is 4-1 on the year, 1-0 in the AAC, 3-2 against the spread and 3-2 with the over.
Like Memphis, Temple has been pretty steady on both sides of the ball. The Owls are giving up just 17.2 points and 292.8 yards per game on defense this year, while the offense is putting up 29.8 points and 445.2 yards per game. Anthony Russo is leading the offense with 1,279 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. Re’Mahn Davis is the leading rusher with 503 yards and four touchdowns while Jadan Blue has 34 catches for 427 yards and two touchdowns. Ifeanyi Maijeh is leading the defense with 30 tackles and five sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Memphis
The Tigers are 5-1 with the over in their last six conference games and 7-3 with the over in their last 10 games in October.
Temple
The Owls are 5-2 with the under in their last seven conference games and 6-2 with the under in their last eight games in October.
Prediction:
These two have split the over/under total in their last four meetings, but hit the under in the two games at Temple. Both teams come into this game with really strong passing defenses, which is going to make it tough on both teams to consistently move the ball. Memphis has a solid offense, but I think they will run into some problems on the road against this Owl defense. Temple needs to keep the score low to be competitive, because the Owls aren’t built to get into a shootout.
College Football Week 7 Prediction: Memphis/Temple Under 50.5
