Wolverines win fourth straight
Michigan overcame a 17-0 deficit at Northwestern last Saturday to win 20-17 and improve to 4-1 on the year and 2-0 in the Big Ten. Michigan is just 2-3 against the spread while going 3-2 with the under thus far. The two covers the Wolverines have had this year are at home and all three home games have been wins by at least 25 points.
The Wolverines are dominant on defense for the most part this year, allowing just 14.8 points and 232.6 yards per game. Their run defense is giving up just 86.4 yards per game. On offense, Michigan is averaging 37.4 points and 411.8 yards per game. Karan Higdon is leading the offense with 479 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 76 carries while Shea Patterson has thrown for 905 yards and seven touchdowns.
Terps seek upset
Maryland won its Big Ten opener two weeks ago, beating Minnesota at home 42-13 to move to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Big Ten. Maryland also has a win over Texas this year. The Terps are 3-1 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
Maryland has been strong on defense thus far, allowing just 22.8 points and 313.8 yards per game. Their rushing defense is giving up just 104 yards per game. On offense, Maryland is putting up 33.8 points and 399.8 yards per contest. The Terps are averaging 258.5 yards per game on the ground. College Football Betting Trends
Michigan
The Wolverines are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games following a failed cover.
Maryland
Maryland is 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against winning teams and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games.
Prediction:
I think this is as simple as Michigan being at home. Despite what Maryland has done, Michigan has dominated the Terps the last three years to a cumulative score of 122-13. The Wolverines have Maryland’s number as is and Michigan is actually more capable on offense this year than it was in those other lopsided wins. Outside of its stunner against Texas, Maryland really hasn’t been tested by a team of Michigan’s talent. I think this game gets out of hand quickly.
