Indiana vs. Ohio State Pick
A week after upsetting Michigan State, can Indiana find a way to cover on the road against No. 2 Ohio State this Saturday at 3:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Ohio State is the clear favorite in this game, as the Buckeyes are getting odds of -29 points against the Hoosiers. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 59 points. Ohio State hasn’t lost to Indiana in over a decade, but the Hoosiers have covered the spread in five straight meetings.
Indiana is coming off a 24-21 OT win over the defending Big Ten champs, Indiana, last week. The Hoosiers are now 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Big Ten while going 2-2 against the spread. Despite not having a great offensive showing last week, the Hoosiers are still averaging 29 points and 496.8 yards per game. Richard Lagow is leading the offense with 1,278 passing yards and nine touchdowns, but also has six interceptions. Devine Redding has 413 rushing yards as well. Defensively, Indiana has shown some improvement this season, allowing just 21.8 points and 373 yards per game.
Ohio State has been cruising right along this season. The Buckeyes are coming off a 58-0 win over Rutgers last week at home to improve to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 against the spread. The Buckeyes have covered in all four games this year and six straight overall since last season. Ohio State is averaging an impressive 57 points and 576.3 yards per game right now while the defense is giving up just 9.3 points and 237.8 yards per contest. J.T. Barrett has been a great field general, throwing for 888 yards and 14 touchdowns while rushing for 205 yards and three more scores. Mike Weber has added 495 rushing yards while Curtis Samuel has 328.

There hasn’t been a spread Ohio State hasn’t been able to cover and I don’t think that changes this week. The Buckeyes should be able to move the ball at will on this Indiana defense. Though the Hoosiers are improved on that side of the ball, they can’t contend with Ohio State. Same can be said for the IU offense. They are a good unit that can move the ball on most teams, but I see it being a struggle in Columbus against this defensive unit.
