Stanford unable to score
Stanford is coming off a 31-28 win at Oregon State, but the Cardinal have been struggling this year. They are just 2-3 on the season, 1-2 in the Pac-12, 1-4 against the spread and 3-2 with the over.
Normally known for defense, Stanford isn’t getting the job done on that side of the ball this year. The Cardinal are giving up 29.2 points and 413.6 yards per game. The offense isn’t doing any better, as they are putting up just 20.2 points and 327.2 yards per game. KJ Costello started the year at QB, but a hand injury has taken him out for weeks. He is questionable to return for tonight’s game. Costello has thrown for 471 yards and two touchdowns. Davis Mills has started in his place and has thrown for 597 yards and four touchdowns. Cameron Scarlett is the team’s leading rusher with 413 yards and a score while Michael Wilson has 19 catches for 266 yards and three touchdowns.
Washington tops USC
Washington picked up a 28-14 win over USC last week to improve to 4-1 on the season. The Huskies are 1-1 in Pac-12 play, suffering a 20-19 loss to Cal earlier in the year. They are also 4-1 against the spread and 3-2 with the over.
The Huskies have been pretty balanced on offense and defense. They rank in the top third of the nation in both as they average 38.2 points and 444.2 yards per game on offense while giving up 17.4 points and 340.6 yards per game on defense. Quarterback Jacob Eason is leading the team this season with 1,243 passing yards and 10 touchdowns. Aaron Fuller is his top receiver with 27 catches for 327 yards and four touchdowns. On the ground, Salvon Ahmed is leading the way with 399 yards and three scores. Myles Bryant leads the Washington defense with 31 tackles, a sack and two interceptions.
College Football Betting Trends
Stanford
Stanford has failed to cover in four straight against a winning team and the Cardinal are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six following a win.
Washington
The Huskies are just 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 road games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 conference games.
Prediction:
The home team has won the last four meetings between these two and Stanford has covered the spread in three of the last four in this series. The Huskies looked good last week at home, but they have had trouble scoring points in conference thus far, putting up just 48 over two games. Stanford isn’t the defensive power we remember, but the Cardinal still held Oregon to just 21 points and Northwestern to just seven in their two home games. I think the Cardinal are going to be able have a strong defensive effort and make things hard for Washington to score.
