Texas Tech struggling on offense
Texas Tech has hit a rough patch the last two outings, losing to Arizona and Oklahoma on the road while scoring a combined 30 points. The Red Raiders are 2-2 on the season, 0-1 in the Big 12, 2-2 against the spread and 3-1 with the under.
The Red Raiders are giving up 24 points and 390.8 yards per game. The offense is averaging 28.3 points and 460 yards per game, but an injury to QB Alan Bowman has hampered the team. He threw for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns before suffering a shoulder injury that has him out most of the season. Jett Duffey saw action last week and threw for just 124 yards on 12 of 21 passing. Armand Shyne is the team’s leading rusher with 256 yards and three touchdowns while T.J. Vasher is the leading receiver with 19 catches for 248 yards and two scores.
Oklahoma State grinds out win
Following a 36-30 loss at Texas two weeks ago, Oklahoma State bounced back last weekend with a 26-13 win at home over Kansas State. The Cowboys are 4-1 on the season, 1-1 in the Big 12, 5-0 against the spread and 3-2 with the under.
The Cowboys are still one of the top offenses in the country, averaging 40.8 points and 532.2 yards per game this season. The defense is giving up 24 points and 380.8 yards per game. Quarterback Spencer Sanders has thrown for 1,043 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for 380 yards and two scores this year. Chuba Hubbard has added 938 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. Tylan Wallace is the top receiver with 28 catches for 618 yards and six touchdowns. The defense is being led by Amen Ogbongbemiga, who has 42 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Texas Tech
The Red Raiders have failed to cover in four straight conference games and in four straight following a loss.
Oklahoma State
The Cowboys have covered the spread in eight straight games on fieldturf and in six straight overall
Prediction:
Texas Tech won last year’s meeting and has covered in three straight against the Cowboys, but the Red Raiders are hampered with injuries and not the same offense we have seen in the past. They had just 16 points against Oklahoma and only 14 against Arizona. The Tech defense is giving up 180 yards per game on the ground. That is going to be an issue against Hubbard. Oklahoma State has one of the most balanced offenses in the nation, but that is because they are very good on the ground and in the air. I just don’t see Tech being able to stop them, or keep up with them.
