AMES, IA (The Spread) – The sixth week of the college football season begins on Thursday night when Iowa State hosts Texas at 7:30PM ET on ESPN.

Iowa State is 1-2 on the season, 0-2 at home and 1-2 against the spread. Texas is 2-2 overall, 0-1 on the road and 2-2 against the spread. Texas has won the last two meetings and the road team has won three of the last four in this series.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Texas is the favorite on the road, as the Longhorns have odds of -7.5 points against Iowa State. Texas got back on track somewhat two weeks ago, beating Kansas State 31-21. Texas had lost two straight before the win and the defense had a lot of questions. On the season, the Longhorns are giving up 28 points per game, but the offense is still scoring 32.8 points per contest. David Ash has thrown for 760 yards and seven touchdowns, but isn’t expected to play due to injury. Case McCoy will step in. He has thrown for 330 yards and a touchdown in limited action. Johnathan Gray has added 350 rushing yards for Texas.

Iowa State got its first win of the season last Thursday, beating Tulsa, 38-21. The Cyclones had dropped their first two games by a combined 14 points. Iowa State is allowing just 25.3 points per game on the season, but being held to 26.3 points per game on offense. Quarterback Sam B. Richardson has thrown for 757 yards and seven scores to lead the offense. He also has 111 rushing yards.

In terms of Injuries, Texas tackle Josh Cochran (shoulder) and quarterback David Ash (shoulder) are doubtful for the game. Iowa State offensive lineman Jamison Lalk (undisclosed) is doubtful while tight end Pierce Richardson (ankle) is questionable.
