After a disappointing first loss of the season, No. 21 Mississippi looks to rebound Saturday at 7PM ET when it faces Vanderbilt at Vanderbilt Stadium.
The Rebels started 2-0 with dominant wins over Memphis and Southeastern Louisiana, but lost last Thursday to South Carolina, 16-10. The Rebels were held to 248 yards of offense in the loss as quarterback Jevan Snead threw for just 107 yards on 7-of-21 passing. On the year, Snead has thrown for 491 yards and six touchdowns. Despite being fourth in the SEC in points scored per-game, the Rebels rank in the bottom half of the conference in yards per-game, rushing yards, and passing yards. On defense, the Rebels rank second in points allowed per-game and have held opponents to 286 yards rushing in three games.
Vanderbilt is 2-2 on the year with sizeable wins over Western Carolina and Rice. The Commodores, however, are 0-2 in the SEC with losses to LSU and Mississippi State. Vanderbilt has scored just 12 points in the two losses, but on the season, are led by Larry Smith who has 633 yards passing with one touchdown. Warren Norman and Zac Stacy lead the rushing attack with over 230 yards each and four combined rushing touchdowns. The Commodores rank last in the SEC in points scorer per-game, and on defense, are fourth in the conference in points allowed per-game while allowing just 425 passing yards on the season in four games.
