Can No. 17 Michigan State go on the road and pick up a sizable win over Indiana tonight at 8PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Michigan State is the slight favorite on the road, as the Spartans are getting odds of -6.5 points against the Hoosiers. Bet on Michigan State vs. Indiana
Michigan State is licking its wounds a little bit following a 30-6 loss to Wisconsin at home last week. MSU is now 2-1 on the season and 1-2 against the spread. The Spartans only gave up 317 yards to the Badgers, but committed four turnovers on offense and couldn’t produce on the ground, being held to 75 rushing yards as a team. On the season, MSU is averaging 23.3 points and 395.7 yards per game while allowing 23.7 points and 314.7 yards per contest. Tyler O’Connor has been a bit shaky as the new starting quarterback, as he has thrown for just 655 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions in three games. LJ Scott has been leading the offense with 264 rushing yards and two scores. Defensively, MSU is giving up 23.7 points and 314.7 yards per game, but the team has injuries to linebackers Riley Bullough and Jon Reschke. Reschke won’t play today and Bullough is questionable.
Indiana is coming off a 33-28 loss at home to a Wake Forest. The loss dropped the Hoosiers to 2-1 on the season and they are 1-2 against the spread. While Indiana is only giving up 22 points and 351.3 yards per game, those numbers come against a rather weak schedule so far of FIU, Ball State and Wake Forest. Offensively, Indiana is averaging 516.7 yards per game, including 334 yards per game through the air. Richard Lagow has thrown for 1,002 yards and seven touchdowns, but also has five interceptions. Devine Redding is the leading rusher with 313 yards on the ground.

Regardless of what we saw last week against Wisconsin, Michigan State is still a good program with a head coach that won’t let them just collapse completely. The Spartans should be able to bounce back tonight and run the ball against this weak Indiana defense. While the Spartans may give up some points to the Hoosiers, I think they will create some turnovers and get some timely stops to allow them to win by two scores or more.
