Utah State at BYU

With the pressure of going undefeated off its shoulders, No. 20 BYU can now focus on other goals, like winning rivalry games, which it looks to do Friday when it hosts Utah State at 9PM ET from Lavell Edwards Stadium.

After an embarrassing 54-28 home loss to Florida State two weeks ago, the Cougars bounced back with a 42-23 win over Colorado State last week to improve to 1-0 in conference play. The Cougars have beaten the Aggies in nine straight and this year’s match up doesn’t look to be much different. Max Hall has thrown for 1,185 yards and eight touchdowns on the year, but also has eight interceptions. Harvey Unga has rushed for 227 yards and four touchdowns in three games, while Dennis Pitta has caught 21 passes to lead the BYU receiving corp. The Cougars lead the Mountain West Conference in total yards and passing yards.

The Aggies got their first win of the season last week, beating Southern Utah 53-34. Opening losses to Utah and Texas A&M have left Utah State at 1-2 on the season. The Aggies rank at the bottom of the WAC in points allowed per-game and yards allowed per-game, but are third in points scored per-game thanks to the play of running back Robert Turbin, who has 373 yards rushing with three touchdowns for an average of 124.3 yards per-game. Quarterback Diondre Borel has 771 yards passing with four touchdowns as well for Utah State.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made BYU 24-point home favorites over Utah State on Friday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 64.5.
