No. 22 North Carolina has its chance to show it is an ACC contender on Saturday when the Tar Heels travel to Georgia Tech for a Noon ET kickoff from Bobby Dodd Stadium.

The Tar Heels are 3-0 in 2009 with wins over The Citadel, Connecticut, and East Carolina. UNC has only allowed 33 points in its three games and is off to its first 3-0 start since 1997. The Tar Heels haven’t had a ton of offensive production, as T.J. Yates has thrown for just 574 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions while Shaun Draughn is UNC’s leading rusher with 223 yards. Ryan Houston has four rushing touchdowns but has just 119 yards on the ground. Da’Norris Searcy has provided a boost for UNC on punt returns, where he averages 17.3 yards per-return with one touchdown. On defense, Charles Brown and Deunta Williams each had two interceptions to lead the Tar Heels.

Georgia Tech is looking for a little payback on Saturday, as UNC handed the Yellowjackets a 28-7 last year in Chapel Hill. Georgia Tech is coming off a 33-17 loss to Miami after picking up wins over Jacksonville State and Clemson. The Yellowjackets struggled all game on offense against the Hurricanes, with Josh Nesbitt throwing for just 133 yards on 6-of-15 passing. All completions went to Demaryius Thomas, as the two hooked up for one score. Nesbitt has thrown for just 357 yards and two touchdowns in three games, but has rushed for 213 yards to lead the Yellowjackets. Thomas has 327 of Georgia Tech’s 412 receiving yards on the season.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Georgia Tech 2.5-point home favorites over North Carolina on Saturday afternoon. The over/under total for this game has been established at 46.5.
