Hoping for Rebound

A last minute scoring drive by Virginia Tech last week could be the turning point of the 2009 college football season for No. 25 Nebraska.

After a 16-15 loss on the road to the Hokies, the Cornhuskers look to rebound Saturday at 7PM ET when they host Louisiana-Lafayette from Memorial Stadium.

In last week’s loss, Nebraska had 373 yards of offense, but couldn’t get in the end zone, settling for five field goals from Alex Henery. Zac Lee struggled at quarterback throwing for 136 yards on 11-of-30 passing with two interceptions. Roy Helu Jr. did rush for 169 yards on 28 carries in the game and has 381 yards rushing on the season with three touchdowns. Lee has thrown for six touchdowns and 689 yards in Nebraska’s three games while Curenski Gilleylen leads Nebraska in receiving with 170 yards. On defense, the Huskers rank third in the Big XII Conference in points allowed.

The Cajuns enter Saturday’s game at 2-1, coming off a 31-3 loss at LSU last weekend. The Cajuns do hold a 17-15 win over Kansas State on the year, a fellow Big XII team. Quarterback Chris Masson has 627 yards passing with three touchdowns and three interceptions on the year while Undrea Sails has 240 yards rushing with two touchdowns. Defensively, the Cajuns are led by Maurice Rolle, who has two interceptions in the secondary.

Oddsmakers from online sports book BetOnline have made Nebraska 27.5-point home favorites over Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 51.5.
