Spurrier said his players had a more spirited session practice Wednesday, two days after learned that the school’s schools leader in catches and yards receiving was found dead near Denver.
Authorities think the Broncos wide receiver killed himself Monday with a gunshot wound to the head.
Spurrier says the Gamecocks will wear a helmet decal with McKinley’s No. 11 when they take on Auburn this Saturday night.
The coach says players who were close with McKinley would be allowed to attend his funeral Monday in Austell, Ga. The Gamecocks are idle Oct. 2.
