Pitt drops another
Pittsburgh is coming off a 17-10 loss at Penn State last weekend as a 17-point underdog heading into the game. The Panthers are now just 1-2 on the year with losses to Virginia and Penn State. They are 2-1 against the spread and 3-0 with the under.
The Panthers have struggled on defense in previous seasons, but have looked strong this year. They are giving up just 19 points and 303.7 yards per game this season while the offense is putting up just 14.7 points and 380 yards per game. Kenny Pickett is leading the team with 878 passing yards and two touchdowns, but he also has two interceptions. Maurice Ffrench is the leading receiver with 24 catches for 235 yards and a score while A.J. Davis is the leading rusher with 119 yards. Jaylen Twyman is leading the defense with 12 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
UCF stays hot
UCF remains unbeaten after rolling past Stanford at home last weekend, 45-27. The Knights are now 3-0 on the season, 3-0 against the spread and 2-1 with the under.
The Knights have impressive numbers on both sides of the ball, as the offense is averaging 51.7 points and 604.3 yards per contest. Defensively, UCF is holding opponents to just 13.7 points and 253 yards per game. Dillon Gabriel is leading the team with 719 passing yards and nine touchdowns. Gabriel Davis is the leading receiver with 10 catches for 229 yards and three scores while Greg McCrae is the leading rusher with 258 yards and three touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
Pitt has covered the spread in four straight non-conference games and in six of their last eight home games.
UCF
The Knights are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 against a losing team.
Prediction:
This is going to be a good measuring stick game for just how strong UCF is this year. Pittsburgh is coming off a hard-fought game at Penn State, which also looked dominant prior to meeting with the Panthers. UCF is hitting the road to face Pitt, which won’t be easy. The Panthers don’t have a great home-field edge, but its still a new environment and it can rattle players who aren’t accustomed to a big road game. I really like the Knights and wouldn’t be surprised to see them dominate this game, but Pittsburgh has solid trends at home and in non-conference play. I think this is a big game for Pitt and coach Pat Narduzzi and I expect them to play up to their competition today.
