Boise State looks to stay unbeaten
The Boise State Broncos are 3-0 to start the 2019 season and enter Mountain West Conference play. Boise is coming off a 45-10 win over Portland State last weekend. The Broncos are 2-1 against the spread and 2-1 with the over.
The Broncos are well balanced on offense and defense, with the defense giving up just 16 points and 280.7 yards per game this year. The offense is putting up 31.7 points and 516.3 yards per game. Boise may be without running back Robert Mahone tonight. He is questionable for the game, as he is dealing with a shoulder injury. He has 215 rushing yards with two touchdowns. George Holani has 216 yards to lead the ground attack while Hank Bachmeier has thrown for 927 yards and four touchdowns with three interceptions. He has been sacked 10 times, though. Khalil Shakir has been his top target with 17 catches for 237 yards. The defense is being led by linebacker Curtis Weaver, who has 15 tackles and six sacks.
Falcons looking for another upset
Air Force is off to a 2-0 start to the season after the Falcons picked up a big 30-23 OT win at Colorado last weekend. The Falcons have covered the spread in both games while splitting the over/under total.
The Falcons have looked solid on both sides of the ball to start the year. The defense is giving up just 15 points and 243 yards per game while the offense is averaging 39 points and 454 yards per contest. The Falcons are averaging 356 rushing yards per game this far. Kadin Remsberg is leading the way with 208 yards and three touchdowns while Taven Birdow has 147 yards. Donald Hammond III has thrown for 155 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 48 yards and four scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Boise State
The Broncos are just 8-17 ATS in their last 25 home games, but 4-1 ATS in their last five Friday games.
Air Force
The Falcons are 7-18-1 against the spread in their last 26 conference games, but 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games in September.
Prediction:
Air Force has been a thorn in the side of Boise State for years. The Falcons are 5-1-1 against the spread in the last seven meetings with the Broncos, including three straight up victories. Boise State could be without one of its top players, which doesn’t help matters. Boise State was challenged at home by Marshall a few weeks ago, so the Broncos’ offense isn’t as strong as the numbers indicate. Air Force just proved it can go on the road and play with ranked opponents. I expect the Falcons to continue to make things tough on Boise State tonight.
