Tulane seeks third win
Tulane is off to a 2-1 start to the season following a 58-6 win over Missouri State last weekend. The Green Wave are 2-1 against the spread as well while going 2-1 with the under.
The Wave have looked pretty good on both sides of the ball thus far. Tulane is giving up just 14.7 points and 276 yards per game on defense. Offensively, Tulane is putting up 35.3 points and 436 yards per contest. The Wave also have a strong ground attack, as four different players are over 100 yards. Quarterback Justin McMillan has thrown for 424 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for a team-high 154 yards and three scores. Darius Bradwell is the next-leading rusher with 142 yards. Darnell Mooney is the leading receiver with 12 catches for 183 yards.
Houston hoping to bounce back
Houston is coming off a 31-24 loss against Washington State last Friday to fall to 2-1 on the year. The Cougars two losses have come against ranked opponents in Washington State and Oklahoma. They are 2-1 against the spread thus far while going 2-0-1 with the under.
The Cougars are struggling on defense thus far, but also faced two of the most prolific offenses in the country. They are giving up 32.3 points and 497.7 yards per game thus far on defense. College Football Betting Trends
Tulane
Tulane is 10-4 against the spread in its last 14 home games, but just 2-5 ATS in their last seven conference games.
Houston
Houston is 5-12 against the spread in its last 17 road games, but 18-8 ATS in their last 26 games in September.
Prediction:
The home team has won three straight in this series, but I think Houston comes in as the battle-tested team. Tulane took on Auburn, but the Cougars have faced Oklahoma and Washington State, covering in both instances. Dana Holgorsen isn’t going to let this Houston team slide to a poor record and I think this is a big game for him to keep the program on track. Tulane has looked pretty good, but the Green Wave haven’t established a history like Houston has over the last decade. I will take the Cougars with the points in a game that should be more of a grind than it looks on paper.
