Ole-Miss at Home

No. 5 Mississippi is in a prime position to contend for a national title this year, and that should continue Saturday, when the Rebels host Southeast Louisiana at 7:30PM ET from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

The Rebels defeated Memphis 45-14 in the season opener two weeks ago, and second-year coach Houston Nutt has the Rebel nation at a fever pitch for the 2009 season. A 9-4 season in his first year has led to national title talk this season. In the opener, the Rebels dominated the Tigers, holding them to under 300 yards of offense while forcing three turnovers. On offense, Dexter McCluster rushed for 50 yards with a touchdown and caught six passes for 65 yards and a score. Jevan Snead was spotty at quarterback, throwing for just 175 yards on 12-of-22 passing with two touchdowns and two interceptions, but Snead wasn’t asked to play his best against Memphis.

Southeast Louisiana is 2-0 with wins over Texas A&M-Commerce and Union College. Last week, the Lions defeated Union 69-20. Brian Babin threw for 286 yards and five touchdowns while Zeke Jones rushed for 106 yards with two scores.
