Public Betting Trends
According to the latest oddsmakers, Utah is favored on the road, as the Utes are getting odds of -4 points against USC. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 52.5 points. The public betting currently has 91 percent going on Utah as the road favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Utes off to 3-0 start
Utah is off to a 3-0 start to the season thanks to a 31-0 win over Idaho State last weekend. The Utes are just 2-1 against the spread through three games while going 2-1 with the under.
The Utes have had a great defensive performance in 2019, allowing just 9.7 points and 239.3 yards per game thus far. Utah hasn’t faced great competition, but the numbers are still solid. Offensively, Utah is putting up 32 points and 439.3 yards per game. Zack Moss has been leading the offense with 373 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Tyler Huntley has thrown for 602 yards and four touchdowns while Bryan Thompson has four catches for 171 yards and two scores. Devin Lloyd is leading the defense with 24 tackles and two sacks.
USC edged by BYU
USC suffered its first loss of the season last Saturday in a 30-27 OT road loss against BYU. The Trojans are 2-1 on the year, including a 45-20 win over Stanford in its lone Pac-12 contest. USC is just 1-2 against the spread and 2-1 with the over.
The Trojans have been much improved on offense compared to last season, averaging 34.3 points and 463.7 yards per game through three games. The defense is allowing 24.3 points and 409 yards per contest. Kedon Slovis has looked okay in place of the injured JT Daniels at QB. Slovis has thrown for 715 yards and five touchdowns, but also has four interceptions. Tyler Vaughns is the leading receiver with 23 catches for 321 yards and a touchdown while Vavae Malepeai is the leading rusher with 272 yards and four touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Utah
The Utes are 4-1 with the under in their last five road games and 9-4 with the under in their last 13 games on grass.
USC
USC is 5-2 with the over in their last seven following a loss and 21-9-2 with the over in their last 32 home games against a team with a winning road record.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in four straight meetings, going over 53 points in all four of those games. USC has shown the ability to score, especially at home. The Trojans struggled at BYU with a young QB, but I think they can find some holes in this Utah defense with it playing on the road. Utah has a powerful ground attack and a capable QB, so I expect the Utes to put up some points on offense as well. Look for the Utes to find themselves in a high-scoring game than usual.
