MSU vs. Notre Dame Prediction
Will defense prevail, or offense be the story when No. 18 Notre Dame and No. 12 Michigan State meet tonight at 7:30PM ET on NBC?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Notre Dame is favored in this game, as the Fighting Irish are getting odds of -7 points against Michigan State. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 49.5 points. Notre Dame has won three straight meetings with Michigan State and the two have hit the under in their last three encounters.

The pressure is on Notre Dame, as the Irish can’t afford a second loss already in the season. The Irish lost to Texas in OT 50-47 a few weeks ago. Last week they bounced back with a 39-10 win over Nevada at home. The Irish have split the total through two games, but have hit the over in three of their last four. ND is averaging 444 yards per game on offense, while the defense is giving up 408.5 yards per contest. The team has settled in on DeShone Kizer to be the starting quarterback. He has thrown for 371 yards and seven touchdowns while rushing for 112 yards and two scores in his two games.
Bet on Michigan State vs. Notre Dame
Michigan State has played in just one game this season, beating Furman 28-13 two weeks ago. The Spartans hit the under in the game and they have hit the under in five of their last six contests. While MSU is rested for this game, it comes in with a lot of questions as there is a lot of inexperience at key positions, including quarterback and the offensive line. Tyler O’Connor threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns against Furman while LJ Scott had 105 rushing yards, but the offense still produced just 330 total yards against a team like Furman. They did hold Furman to just 226 total yards on defense.

It’s hard to say what to expect of Michigan State in this game. Notre Dame certainly isn’t a stout defense, but it appears that MSU isn’t quite the offense it was in past seasons. Michigan State should still be pretty tough on defense, which will likely limit how impactful Kizer should be. The total isn’t being set very high, but I expect a physical, smash-mouth football game tonight. Look for the under to hit in this rivalry game.
