Tigers look to halt Aggies’ impressive run
Auburn mixed and matched its quarterbacks – with varying success – in a season-opening defeat to Clemson. Entering this weekend, though, it’s all about one main sophomore.
Sean White gets the call as the Tigers host Texas A&M on Saturday night. Oddsmakers at online sports book Bovada.lv currently list Auburn as a 3.5-point favorite. The over/under is 54.

With Gus Malzahn’s program whitewashing Arkansas State a week ago, White actually took most of the snaps in that 51-14 verdict. The Florida native completed 17 of 23 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 60 yards on 10 carries, showing impressive burst and next-level acceleration.
Yet, that outing came at the expense of an FCS foe. Conversely, the Aggies enter Jordan-Hare Stadium having just ripped Prairie View A&M to shreds. Prior to that 67-0 shellacking, Kevin Sumlin’s troops took down UCLA 31-24 in overtime.

Last year, Auburn prevailed in College Station 26-10. Of course, Sumlin enjoyed very little cohesion at that juncture. His then-signal-caller, Kyler Murray, has since transferred to Oklahoma. It’s a new campaign, and a new identity, for Texas A&M.
As much as Malzahn wants to see continued growth from White, look for the head coach to lean heavily on running backs Kerryon Johnson and Kamryn Pettway. The latter had 15 attempts for 152 yards vs. the Red Wolves. He’ll need a comparable performance to help put down the high-flying Aggies.
