SALT LAKE CITY, UT (The Spread) – Former conference rivals meet up in a non-conference game on Saturday as Utah hosts No. 25 BYU at 10PM ET on ESPN2.

BYU comes into this game at 2-0 while Utah is 1-1 overall. The Utes are 1-0 at home and 0-2 against the spread while the Cougars are playing in their first road game and 1-1 against the point spread. The home team has won four of the last five in this series.

Trends show that the underdog has covered the spread in 12 of the last 15 games in this series. BYU is just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 against Utah and the two teams have combined to hit the over in 5 of the last 7 games played in Utah.

Oddsmakers see BYU as the favorite in this game, as the Cougars are getting point spread odds of -4 at Utah. The over/under total has been set at 46 points. BYU peaked as a 5-point favorite during the week before settling in at -4.

BYU has opened the season with a 30-6 win over Washington State and a 45-13 win over Weber State. The Cougars are posting impressive offensive numbers, averaging 479 total yards per game. Quarterback Riley Nelson is leading the team with 529 passing yards and 3TDs. Defensively, the Cougars are holding opponents to just 239 total yards and 55 rushing yards per contest.

Utah opened the year with a 41-0 win over Northern Colorado and then lost, 27-20 to Utah State on the road. The Utes have went through some change early, as quarterback Jordan Wynn injured his shoulder and then decided to retire from football. Running back John White has been leading the team with 215 rushing yards and a TD. The offense has been lacking, as the Utes are averaging just 396.5 yards per game. Utah has been strong on defense, as it is holding opponents to just 247 total yards and 99.5 rushing yards per game.

In terms of Injuries, BYU kicker Justin Sorensen is questionable with a back injury while linebacker Zac Stout is doubtful with an Achilles injury. Utah tight end Westlee Tonga is doubtful for this game with a concussion.

The Public Bets for this game are backing BYU on the road. The Cougars are getting 78% of the wagers with odds of -4 points against Utah on Saturday.
