Michigan comes into the game at 1-1 overall while UMass is 0-2. Michigan is 1-0 at home while UMass is 0-1 on the road. Both teams are 0-2 against the spread this season. The only previous meeting between these two was in 2010, where Michigan won 42-37.

Trends show that Michigan is 4-1 against the spread in its last 5 games against MAC opponents but just 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall. UMass has no trends to report as they are in their first year of FBS football.

Oddsmakers see Michigan as the heavy favorite in this game, as the Wolverines are getting point spread odds of -46.5 against UMass. The over/under odds for the game have been set at 57.5 points. (View Matchup) The opening odds had Michigan favored by 45 points. The spread has surprisingly continued to climb, now sitting at 46.5 points.

After a 41-14 loss to Alabama to open the season, the Wolverines bounced back last week with a 31-25 win over Air Force. The Wolverines continued to struggle on defense in the win, as they are now averaging 424 yards allowed per game, including 261 rushing yards per contest. The offense found its stride against Air Force as Denard Robinson had over 200 yards passing and 200 yards rushing. Michigan will need more of that to cover this lofty spread.

UMass has not had a good start to its FBS career. The Minutemen have lost to Connecticut and Indiana by a combined score of 82-6. UMass is giving up just under an average of 500 yards per game thus far on defense while averaging only 161.5 yards per game on offense. That includes an average of just 40.5 rushing yards per game. Their leading rusher right now is Michael Cox, who had just 32 yards on 20 carries.

In terms of Injuries, UMass has no injuries to report. Michigan tight end Brandon Moore is doubtful for Saturday’s game due to a knee injury while defensive end Brennen Beyer is expected to be out Saturday with a knee injury.

The Public Bets for this game are behind UMass. The Minutemen are getting 53% of the wagers with odds of +46.5 points at Michigan on Saturday.
