COLUMBUS, OH (The Spread) – No. 12 Ohio State looks to stay unbeaten under Urban Meyer when the Buckeyes host Cal on Saturday at Noon ET on ABC.

Ohio State comes into this game at 2-0 overall, and 1-1 against the spread. The Buckeyes are 2-0 at home this season as well. Cal is 1-1 overall and 0-2 against the spread this year. This will be the first road game for the Bears. Ohio State is 5-1 all-time against Cal, with the last meeting coming in 1972.

Trends show that Cal is just 2-8 against the spread in its last 10 road games and 1-4 ATS in its last 5 non-conference games, but the Bears are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 against the Big Ten. Ohio State is 8-1-1 ATS in its last 10 against Pac-12 opponents but just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games after a win.

Oddsmakers see Ohio State as the favorite at home in this game. The Buckeyes have been given odds of -17 points against Cal. The over/under odds for this game have been set at 52.5 points. (View Matchup) The opening odds had Ohio State as just a 14.5-point favorite at home, but the spread has been making a climb since. It even peaked at 18 points before falling back to Ohio State -17.

Ohio State has jumped out to the 2-0 start with wins over Miami (Ohio) and Central Florida. The Buckeyes are out-scoring their opponents by a combined total of 87-26 right now. Ohio State has had a dominant presence on the ground, averaging 275 rushing yards per game thus far, while allowing an average of just 51 rushing yards per game. Quarterback Braxton Miller has led the team with 302 rushing yards and four scores while throwing for 362 yards and three TDs.

Cal opened the season with a 31-24 loss to Nevada at home and then bounced back last week by beating Southern Utah, 50-31. The Bears have been steady on offense, averaging 441 total yards per game, including 201 rushing yards per contest. On defense, Cal is giving up 410.5 yards per game, including 261 passing yards per contest. The team is being led by quarterback Zach Maynard, who has thrown for 474 yards and three TDs this season.

In terms of Injuries, Cal defensive lineman Mustafa Jalil and linebacker Khairi Fortt are both questionable for the game with knee injuries. Ohio State running back Jordan Hall is doubtful to play because of a foot injury while defensive end Michael Bennett is questionable with a groin injury.

The Public Bets for this game are backing Ohio State at home. The Buckeyes are getting 81% of the wagers with a point spread of -17 against Cal on Saturday.
