Stanford-UCLA Pick
Despite losing their last six games at UCLA, No. 25 Stanford is a 6.5-point favorite heading to the Rose Bowl on Saturday.
Stanford is a 6.5-point favorite on the road against UCLA according to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com. The over/under has been set at 51.5
Stanford is playing in its first lined game of the season. The Cardinal are 7-4 against the spread as a favorite since 2008, but just 4-8 ATS on the road during that stretch. In lined games of the last three seasons, Stanford has hit the over 17 times in 25 attempts and the Cardinal has hit the over in 9-of-12 games since 2008 on the road.
The Bruins are 0-1 against the spread this season while hitting the over in their loss. UCLA is just 3-7 ATS as an underdog of 3.5-to-10 points since 2008 but, since 1992, the Bruins are 49-34 ATS as an underdog. UCLA has been prone to hitting the under in games as they have hit the under in 14-of-17 games since 2008 where they faced a conference opponent and also have hit the under in 10-of-13 games at home since 2008.
The Pac-10 is known for its offensive fire power and for Stanford, it is too bad Toby Gerhart still isn’t around to run wild against his weak UCLA run defense. Still, the Bruins have had Stanford’s number in the past and getting almost a touchdown seems like a little too much for a home team against an inconsistent team like Stanford. We like UCLA to cover and hit the under on Saturday.
