Washington State staying hot
Coming off a strong 2018 season, Washington is off to a positive start this year with dominant wins over New Mexico State and Northern Colorado. The Cougars did fail to cover a 43-point spread this weekend, but still won 59-17. Washington State is 1-1 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under.
Washington State continues to be one of the strongest offenses in the nation, averaging 58.5 points and 606 yards through two games, including nearly 500 passing yards per game. The defense is holding opponents to just 12 points and 336 yards per contest. Anthony Gordon has thrown for 884 yards and nine touchdowns with just one interception. He is completing an impressive 81 percent of his passes. Five Cougars have over 100 yards receiving already. Easop Winston Jr. has 11 catches for 164 yards and three touchdowns.
Houston bounces back
After losing the opener at Oklahoma 49-31, Houston came back with a 37-17 win over Prairie View last weekend, 37-17. The Cougars failed to cover in the win, but did cover in the loss. They are 1-0-1 with the under this far.
Houston is struggling defensively thus far, giving up 33 points and 502 yards per game. The offense is putting up points at 34 per game, but the Cougars are averaging just 394 yards per game. Quarterback D’Eriq King has thrown for 306 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 102 yards and three more scores. Running back Kyle Porter is leading the ground attack with 160 yards and a touchdown.

Houston has hit the over in six straight games on fieldturf and in four straight following a win.
Prediction:
Washington State has looked like a juggernaut in two games against cake opponents at home. Now the Cougars go on the “road” to face Houston. This may be at the home of the Texans, but it will still be a pro-Houston crowd. The Houston Cougars struggled at Oklahoma, but the offense hasn’t looked quite as powerful as it has in past seasons. Washington State’s defense isn’t soft either. State has been strong since the 2018 season on that side of the ball and I think they will give Houston some issues. Washington State is bound to have some road struggles and score less than what it has. I like the under to hit with this lofty totals.
College Football Week 3 Prediction: Washington State/Houston Under 74.5
