Clemson runs over Georgia Tech
The Clemson football team won its 16th consecutive football game last Thursday when it defeated Georgia Tech at home, 52-14. The Tigers covered the 37-point spread in the win while going over the 60.5-point total.
Clemson didn’t look like it missed a beat from the national title run, as the Tigers put up 632 yards of offense in the win, including 411 rushing yards. The Clemson defense held Tech to just 294 total yards and forced four turnovers while picking up four sacks. Travis Etienne had a dominant performance for Clemson, as he rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for 168 yards and a touchdown on just 13 of 23 passing while Tee Higgins caught four passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.
A&M manhandles Texas State
Texas A&M opened its 2019 season by running over Texas State, 41-7. The Aggies were able to cover a lofty 33.5-point spread at home, but did go under the 56.5-point total. A&M has won its last five coming into this weekend’s game.
The Aggies looked sharp in their opener, putting up 478 total yards of offense while holding Texas State to just 219 total yards and eight rushing yards. A&M was able to dominate on the ground as Isaiah Spiller and Jashaun Corbin each put up over 100 yards. Kellen Mond threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Defensively, the Aggies had three sacks and created four turnovers. Myles Jones had two interceptions to lead the way.
College Football Betting Trends
Clemson
The Tigers have covered in eight of their last 10 games following a win and 7-2 ATS in their last nine against a winning team.
Texas A&M
The Aggies are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games and 21-6-1 ATS in their last 28 games in September.
Prediction:
These two had a close game last season at A&M, with the Aggies feeling like they let one get away. For some reason, A&M has decided to poke the bear and have multiple players guarantee victory. That’s nice and all, but that is only like to motivate a Clemson team that didn’t need to be motivated. The Tigers have talent all over the board and can dominate the best the SEC has to offer. The Aggies aren’t a program that is at that level yet, especially in a road environment. I expect a motivated Clemson offense to come out and thrash the Aggies while the defense makes enough stops to earn a cover.
College Football Week 2 Prediction: Clemson -17.5
