CHESTNUTT HILL, MA (The Spread) – The second week of the college football season gets started Friday night when Wake Forest hosts Boston College at 8PM ET on ESPN2.

Boston College started the season with a 24-14 win at home over Villanova. The Eagles hit the under in the win and failed to cover the 15-point spread. Wake Forest opened with a 31-7 win over Presbyterian. The Demon Deacons hit the under and failed to cover the 38-point spread. Wake Forest has won its last two against Boston College.

Trends show that the favorite has covered the spread in 5 of the last 6 meetings between these two. These two have also hit the over in 4 of their last 5 meetings in Boston College.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Boston College is the favorite at home, as the Eagles have odds of -3 points against Wake Forest. It is currently at its peak with the Eagles favored by 3. The over/under total opened at 48 points and has since added the hook.

Boston College put up 413 total yards on Villanova last week while allowing 355 yards on defense. One thing the Eagles did do well was create turnovers, as the Eagles had four in the victory. Boston College quarterback Chase Rettig had 285 yards and two touchdowns on 23 of 30 passing. Alex Amidon caught 13 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown in the win as well while running back Andre Williams rushed for 114 yards on 23 carries.

Despite not covering, Wake Forest really dominated last week, allowing just 151 yards to Presbyterian while racking up 408 yards of its own. The Demon Deacons also forced six turnovers in the victory. Quarterback Tanner Price had a nice day for the Deacons, as he was 14 of 25 passing for 219 yards and a touchdown. Though Wake Forest had 189 rushing yards as a team, no single player had more than 38 yards on the ground.

In terms of Injuries, Wake Forest receiver Matt James is doubtful with a shoulder injury while tackle Hunter Goodwin is questionable with a shoulder problem. Boston College tight end Jake Sinkovec is doubtful with an undisclosed injury.
