EVANSTON, IL (The Spread) – A beat up No. 19 Northwestern football team looks to stay unbeaten on Saturday when it hosts Syracuse at 6PM ET on The Big Ten Network.

Northwestern opened the season with a 44-30 win at Cal. The Wildcats hit the over and covered the -5.5-point spread despite dealing with big injuries in the game. Syracuse started the year by losing 23-17 to Penn State. The Orange hit the under but covered the 8-point spread. Northwestern has won two of its three recent meetings with Syracuse.

Northwestern won at Cal despite injuries to starting quarterback Kain Colter and running back Venric Mark. Both are expected to play this week. The Wildcats still had 508 yards of offense as a team in the win, but the defense allowed 548 yards to Cal. Treyvon Green had 129 rushing yards with two touchdowns on 16 carries while backup quarterback Trevor Siemian had 276 passing yards on 18 of 29 passing.

Syracuse struggled to move the ball against Penn State last week, amassing just 260 yards of offense. The Orange were also held to 71 rushing yards in the loss, but did hold Penn State to 57 rushing yards. Syracuse back Jerome Smith had 73 rushing yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns while quarterback Drew Allen was just 16 of 37 passing for 189 yards and two interceptions.

In terms of Injuries, Northwestern cornerback Matthew Harris is questionable with an undisclosed injury while Syracuse comes into the game healthy.
