MOUNT PLEASANT, MI (The Spread) – No. 11 Michigan State makes a rare, and somewhat dangerous trip to Central Michigan on Saturday for a 3:30PM ET kickoff on ESPNU.

Both teams enter this game 1-0 overall and 0-1 against the spread. Michigan State defeated Boise State 17-13 at home in the season opener while the Chippewas defeated Southeast Missouri State 38-27 at home. Surprisingly, this series is 5-3 all-time for MSU.

Trends show that Michigan State is 4-1 against the spread in its last 5 games against Mid-American Conference opponents and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games. Central Michigan is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record.

Oddsmakers see Michigan State as the favorite in this game, as the Spartans have been given odds of -23.5 points against Michigan State. The over/under odds for this game have been set at 48 points. Michigan State had one of the biggest wins of the opening week by beating Boise State 17-13. The Spartans actually dominated the game in numbers, out-gaining the Broncos 461-206. The only reason the game was close was due to four MSU turnovers, including one for a touchdown. The Spartans rode the legs of Le’Veon Bell to the win, as he rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns on 44 carries.

Central Michigan opened the season with a tough win over Southeast Missouri State. The Chippewas were tied 24-24 at halftime, but dominated the second half. The Chippewas ended up with 495 total yards of offense, but had three turnovers in the process. The running game was the key to victory, as Zurlon Tipton rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns while Anthony Garland added 102 yards and a score.

In terms of Injuries, Central Michigan has no injuries to report while Michigan State guard Blake Treadwell is expected to miss this game with a tibia injury while nose tackle Brandon Clemson is out with a foot injury.

The Public Bets are solidly behind Michigan State in this game. Of the wagers, 78% are going on the Spartans with odds of -23.5 points against Central Michigan.
