UNLV Gets 20 Points vs. Wisconsin
A trip to the west coast has never been a good thing for the Big Ten and No. 12 Wisconsin is being asked to win by 20 points or more against UNLV. Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com currently list Wisconsin as 20-point favorites on the road at UNLV. The over/under total is set at 55. Wisconsin was 7-6 against the spread last season and the Badgers hit the under 7 times in 12 games. The numbers for the Badgers aren’t too good and not too bad as they are just 7-8 ATS as a favorite the last two seasons and 8-7 ATS in games played on turf. One number that stands out is that Wisconsin has hit the over 19 times in 26 games since 1992 where it was a favorite of 10.5-to-21 points. UNLV was 3-8 against the spread last season while hitting the under six times in 11 games. The Rebels are 0-4 ATS as an underdog of 10.5-to-21 points the last two seasons while also just 13-27 ATS in games played on turf since 1992. Oddsmakers want you to believe that Wisconsin will roll in this game. The records are lopsided, the stats are lopsided, and the trends are lopsided, all in favor of the Badgers. But, that is why the spread is at 20 points. Wisconsin has always struggled in trips to the west coast and tonight should be no different. The 20-point spread is just too big in this game. A 2-10 UNLV team only lost to a 9-4 Wisconsin team 20-13 in 2007 at UNLV, and that score could be exactly the total on Saturday night. We like the Rebels to cover and the under.
