The Texas Longhorns look to extend their home winning streak to 10 games on Saturday at 7PM ET when they host Louisiana-Monroe at Texas Memorial Stadium.

The second-ranked Longhorns have won nine-straight season openers and have high hopes to win the national championship in 2009, thanks in part to their senior quarterback Colt McCoy, who was a Heisman Finalist in 2008 after throwing for 3,859 yards and 34 touchdowns while rushing for 561 yards with 11 scores. McCoy led the Longhorns to a 12-1 record a season ago and this year, McCoy has receiver Jordan Shipley back as his main target. Shipley caught 89 passes for 1,060 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2008. While the Texas offense averaged over 42 points per-game last season, the defense struggled in marquee games. This year, Texas is without four starters, three of which were drafted in the first three rounds of the 2009 NFL Draft. Linebacker Roderick Muckelroy will look to lead Mack Brown’s defense in 2009. Muckelroy was a Second Team All-Big 12 selection last season after racking up 112 tackles.

The Warhawks are coming off a 4-8 season in 2008 under seventh-year coach Charlie Weatherbie. The Warhawks allowed 31.2 points per-game and scored just 23.7 points per-contest in 2008. Despite the struggles, UL-Monroe has 18 returning starters back, with 10 coming on offense. The lone replacement is at quarterback, where the Warhawks lose Kinsmon Lancaster, who threw for over 2,000 yards last season. Frank Goodin will lead the offense at running back after rushing for 783 yards and five touchdowns in 2008. Defensively, UL-Monroe returns eight starters, led by linebacker Cardia Jackson who recorded 127 tackles and four sacks last season.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have made Texas 41-point home favorites over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 61.
