College Football Week 1 Vegas Odds

(TheSpread) – The opening week of the 2013 College Football Season will begin on Thursday. Here is a look at what Las Vegas thinks of this week’s matchups.

The featured game of Week 1 has No. 8 Clemson hosting No. 5 Georgia at 8PM ET on Saturday (View Matchup). According to oddsmakers at the MGM Mirage in Las Vegas, Georgia is the slight favorite on the road, as the Bulldogs have a point spread of -1.5 points against Clemson. The over/under total for the game has been set at 73 points. These two teams haven’t met since 2003, with Georgia picking up a 30-0 win over the Tigers. Georgia has won its last five meetings with Clemson, covering the spread in four of those five victories.

The other featured game of Week 1 has No. 1 Alabama facing Virginia Tech at 5:30PM ET in Atlanta (View Matchup). According to oddsmakers at the MGM Mirage, Alabama is the favorite to win this game, as the Crimson Tide have odds of -19.5 points against Virginia Tech. The over/under total for the game has been set at 45 points. These two teams last met in 2009, with Alabama picking up a 34-24 win over the Hokies. Alabama has covered the spread in seven of its last eight games at a neutral site while Virginia Tech is 2-7-1 against the spread in its last 10 non-conference games.
