Top 25 Poll & Odds

The USA Today has released its top 25 college football coaches’ poll and has made the defending BCS champion Florida Gators the preseason favorite.

It’s no surprise that Florida finds itself ranked No. 1 in the coaches’ poll with former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow back under center. The Gators will also once again boast one of the top defenses in the nation. Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have currently established the Gators as 2/1 favorites to win the 2010 BCS National Championship.

Colt McCoy and the Texas Longhorns are ranked No. 2 in the top 25 poll and are 13/2 to win a national title this year according to oddsmakers. Last year, Texas found itself on the outside looking in as Big 12 rival Oklahoma went on to play Florida in the national championship game, despite beating the Sooners earlier in the year.

Speaking of OU, the Sooners are No. 3 in the preseason poll and are 9/2 to win the 2010 BCS National Championship. They got a huge boost after the 2009 title game when Heisman winner Sam Bradford said he would return under center for the Sooners this season.

The USC Trojans and the Alabama Crimson Tide round out the rest of the top 5. The Trojans are 6/1 to win a national title in 2010, while ‘Bama is 16/1 despite being one of the surprise teams in 2008. Defending Big Ten champion Ohio State is currently ranked No. 6 and is 10/1 to win, while Virginia Tech is No. 7 and is 17/1.
