According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the over/under win total odds for the Ducks has been set at 10.5 this season. The over has odds of -175, while the under has a money line of +145
Oregon is coming off an 11-2 season in 2013, where it went 7-2 in the Pac-12. Oregon seemed to be a shoe-in to win the Pac-12, but the Ducks struggled against rival Stanford once again, and then were upset by Arizona a few weeks later.
Mark Helfrich enters his second season as head coach of Oregon and he will lead another powerful offense. The Ducks averaged 45.5 points and 566 yards per game last year and have eight starters back this season. Marcus Mariota threw for 3,665 yards and 31 touchdowns with just four interceptions in 2013. He enters this season as a Heisman frontrunner. The Ducks also bring back all starters on the offensive line as well as back Byron Marshall, who rushed for overall 1,000 yards a year ago.
Defensively, Oregon allowed 20.5 points and 370.1 yards per game last year, which isn’t bad coming out of the Pac-12 and when you consider how quickly its offense works. The defense has five starters back on defense, led by linebacker Tony Washington, who had 7.5 sacks in 2013. Derrick Malone, another linebacker, tallied 105 tackles a season ago.
Bet on College Football Futures Odds
Oregon opens up with South Dakota on Aug. 30 and then welcomes defending Big Ten champ, Michigan State to town on Sept. 6 in a huge non-conference clash. The Ducks will host the likes of Arizona, Washington and Stanford in Pac-12 play while hitting the road to face UCLA, Cal and rival Oregon State. Should Oregon run the table in the Pac-12, it would certainly make the football playoffs, giving it a chance at 15 games this season. If Oregon plays for the Pac-12 title, it should get to 11 wins without much trouble. If it only plays a total of 13 games, 11 wins could be a stretch.
