According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Oklahoma has been given 50/1 odds to win the 2014 BCS National Championship. The Sooners have been given odds of +375 to win the Big 12 Championship. The over/under win total for the Sooners this year has been set at 9.

Bob Stoops is in his 15th season with Oklahoma, but coming off a pair of 10-win seasons, which isn’t accepted by the program. The Sooners last reached a BCS bowl game in 2010. This year, Oklahoma brings back 12 starters from the 2012 squad.

Offensively, Oklahoma had no issues last year, averaging 38.2 points and 498 yards per game. This year’s team returns seven starters on offense, but must replace quarterback Landry Jones. Taking his place will be junior Blake Bell, who saw very limited action in 2012. Despite that, Bell is still a Heisman Trophy candidate, as he has been given 40/1 odds to win the award this year. Bell will have running back Damien Williams in the backfield. Williams rushed for just under 1,000 yards last season. Oklahoma will be replacing its top two receivers form a year ago, but the Sooners have four starters back on the offensive line.

Oklahoma’s defense struggled in 2012, allowing 398 yards per game. This year’s unit has just four starters back, but does returns a strong cornerback in senior Aaron Colvin, who was a First Team All-Big 12 selection last season after picking up four interceptions. However, Oklahoma will have to replace three starters in the secondary. In 2012, the Sooners allowed nearly 200 rushing yards per game. Oklahoma has just two starters back in the front seven this year.

When it comes to wins, Oklahoma has had at least 10 in eight of the last 10 seasons. The Sooners don’t have a conference title game, so it will have to get the nine wins in 13 games. Oklahoma will have a road trip to Notre Dame and Big 12 road games with Oklahoma State, Baylor and Kansas State. The Sooners get to host the likes of West Virginia, TCU and Texas Tech while facing Texas in Dallas.
